Extraordinary Celestial Event
Super Blue. Blood moon and total Lunar Eclipse courtesy of NASA
On Wednesday, Jan. 31, everything changes, Ready or not, the winds of change are blowing.
On this day, an incredible SUPERMOON + BLUE MOON + TOTAL LUNAR ECLIPSE will grace our skies, bringing the unexpected which will force us into action.
For the first time since 1866, three lunar events will coincide on the same day – A blood moon total lunar eclipse, a super moon and a blue moon will be visible. at the moon rise in the eastern horizon after 6.15 p.m. -a total lunar eclipse will occur at 11 minutes and 37 degrees of Leo and in an Aquarius sun. This "super blue blood moon eclipse" is the first eclipse of 2018, and marks the first time a total eclipse of a blue moon has been visible in the United States since the 19th century.
A total lunar eclipse takes place when the moon crosses into Earth's shadow, so our planet temporarily interferes with the sun's light. Earth's atmosphere filters the light before it gets to the moon in such a way that it looks blood red from our point of view. (That's where the phrase "blood moon" comes from.) On the day of the eclipse, the moon will be full for the second time this month, making it a "blue moon." Finally, it's also a "super moon," meaning the moon will be at the closest point to Earth in its orbit.
What is the super blue blood moon eclipse's spiritual meaning?
I have been preparing myself and my clients for this very powerful and very rare super blue blood moon eclipse, knowing the huge life changing properties of this massive energy event. There is much you need to be aware of and prepare for.
There are basically two points of view on this event but both sides agree it is a harbinger of huge change for good or bad, that effects the next six months. So, let’s start by breaking it down to get a better understanding.
Total Lunar Eclipses
With a Lunar Eclipse, which can only occur at a Full Moon, the shadow of the Earth is cast on the Moon. This happens when the Sun and the Moon are opposite each other, with the Earth passing between, blocking the light of the Sun from reaching the Moon. During a Lunar Eclipse, which can last a few hours, the Moon will appear slightly orange or red. Just like its softer visual appearance, the Lunar Eclipse has a softer astrological effect on us, too. A Lunar Eclipse is a bit less intense. It's about letting go of the past -- old fears, habits, situations, and feelings -- so you can feel light enough to move forward.
It is generally believed that eclipses are associated with huge changes, both good and bad. Lunar eclipses can illuminate what psychologist Carl Jung called our "shadow selves" — the deepest, most primitive parts of our personalities. It can be tough to confront these impulses, but if you accept that you're only human, you may come to understand yourself better. A lunar eclipse reveals what’s hidden about you, kind of your internal landscape.”
Start practicing self-acceptance as soon as possible, because the moon wields an especially strong influence right now. At the beginning of the year, when the Sun is at its lowest strength (at least here in the Northern Hemisphere), the Moon is more powerful than ever. It's likely that whatever effects a regular old lunar eclipse would have will be magnified during the Super Eclipse.
Procrastination is part of the human condition. We avoid what’s painful and stay in our comfort zones. Eclipses are agents of change, which give us a cosmic kick in the pants to push into action. . They fall four to six times a year and turn things upside-down. In our disoriented state, we may act out of character or see turbulence in the world. Eclipses can also help break patterns and shift dynamics. However, most astrologers suggest waiting a week or so before taking drastic action, allowing the eclipse energy to settle first.
Eclipses are a great time to stay in, meditate, and do your inner work. In fact, they provide an especially rich opportunity to connect with spirit because the ‘veils’ are thin.
on the day of an eclipse or the few days surrounding it, avoid staring an important new project, signing a contract, making a deal, or any other material activity if you have another option.
You’re probably not being shown all of the details about the situation, or you may not be thinking completely clearly at this time, so it’s best to wait.
Something I’ve noticed is that the 2 weeks between eclipses (the eclipse cycle) is a bit of a “Twilight Zone.” Things suddenly veer off into an unexpected direction, only to course correct after the second (or last) eclipse.
You’re not truly out of the woods until after the Solar Eclipse on August 21.
One of the most important things to check about an eclipse is to see if it’s visible where you are at the time that it happens. Where it’s visible, its effects are more pronounced.
This eclipse will move things on and end false ideas or dreams. It is about being honest and open with a need to be confident in things you are planning for 2018. It will be an equally vocal time when news, media, arts and creative areas will hit the headlines and there maybe some conflicts of power. Eclipse energy means change, and new liaisons may emerge which will progress with deeper effects during the year in business, work or choice of financial commitments. Plans maybe created which are involving house moves, business locations, and stable fixtures which may not take place at this time, but later could become possible. There could be a progress in new business areas and financial planning, particularly in crowdfunding, fundraising and supportive ventures. According to Vedic Astrology, eclipses can be a terrible time to start or end projects, relationships, jobs, or any other important thing in the material world. This is because auspicious beginnings are blessed with light, ideally the light of a healthy, full Moon and the daytime Sun. With Rahu and Ketu gobbling up this light and warping it in unseen ways, anything you start could turn out very strangely, and you may regret ending something as well.
The Lunar eclipse is visible in North/East Europe, Asia, Australia, North/East Africa, North America, North/West South America, British Columbia, and Antarctica.
BLUE MOON
The term "Blue Moon," which people have adopted as a way of describing something rare, is an "extra" Full Moon. Most years have 12 Full Moons, which occur approximately every month. But once every two or three years, there's an extra Full Moon -- and that is what we call a "Blue Moon."
Although called a blue moon, its colour is not blue, It's believed the word comes from an old Middle English word, "belewe" -- which actually means "betray." In fact our ancestors used to call it the Betrayer Moon, because this extra Full Moon didn't fit into the normal lunar cycle. Over the years the word "belewe" evolved into "blue"
The rarity of the event is believed to have brought about the phrase "once in a blue moon"? The term has been around for a long time, the earliest recorded usage is from 1528. At that time, two friars wrote a pamphlet attacking Cardinal Thomas Wolsey and other high ranking members of the church. In it, they said, "O churche men are wyly foxes... Yf they say the mone is blewe, We must beleve that it is true."
In 2018 there are TWO Blue Moons, one on January 31 in Leo, and another on March 31 in Libra.
Full Moons are emotionally charged, so any time there are two Full Moons in one month it means that month could be an emotional roller coaster for some people. Thank goodness it only happens once in a Blue Moon!
Blue moons have a romantic place in popular culture - you’ve probably heard the saying “once in a blue moon” referencing their rarity.
Wicca, also known as Pagan Witchcraft, is also said to attribute special meaning to blue moons.
In the pagan community, the origins of the meaning of a Blue Moon vary. And the legend or origin of these meanings cannot be substantiated. However, some believe the second full moon holds the knowledge of the Grandmother Goddess (or the Crone) and therefore contains the wisdom of the 3-fold energy. This can be associated with the Goddess in her 3 forms of Maiden, Mother, Crone. It can also be associated with the 3 natures of self as Mind, Body, Spirit. In later evolutions as paganism began to be influenced by Christianity, this moon was associated with the Divine Trinity of Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
In other pagan traditions the phases of the moon represent the transition of knowledge within the Goddess. The quarter moons representing the Maiden Goddess, the New Moon the Mother Goddess, the Full Moon the Grand Mother Goddess (which maybe one reason we refer to the moon as "Grandmother Moon". The Blue Moon then is seen as the transition of the Grandmother or Crone to the Divine level of existence. She becomes an expression of evolution of wisdom, as well as an example of the circle of life.
Another view is that the Blue Moon represents a time of heightened or clearer communication between our physical being and the Divine. Often the energy of the Divine is seen in the form of the Grandmother Goddess or the Crone Goddess. It can also be viewed as a link between the physical (masculine energy) and the spiritual (feminine energy), making communication with spirit easier and more apt to yield insightful and enlightened communications.
THE FULL MOON
The Full Moon is a peak, and many feel the buzz. It's a crescendo and sometimes brings on a reckoning...a moment of truth. It's associated with illumination since it lights up the dream time landscape.
At the Full Moon, the luminaries -- Sun and Moon -- are always in opposite Zodiac signs. The polarity brings heightened tension, as balance is sought between the two extremes.
The Full Moon stirs our emotions, so it's fitting that the Full Moon for each month has a different name and personality. Many of the Full Moon names date back to ancient tribes who followed the Full Moon to help keep track of the seasons.
Other Full Moon names have been created by different cultures around the world, and most of the Full Moons have more than one name -- although one is likely more widely used than the others.

Full Moons are strongly linked to relationships, romance, and passion. They are also linked to lunacy!
Full Moons occur when the ecliptic longitudes of the Sun and Moon differ by 180 degrees, or when the Sun opposes the Moon, every 29 or 30 days.
Preparing for the Full Moon
Each full Moon has a different intuitive feel, and any ritual you do could draw on the essence of the sign.
As it approaches, you might gather photos, found objects, meaningful totems and place them with your intentions in a prominent place.
You might light a candle in a simple Full Moon Ritual.
Time to Celebrate
The Full Moon often casts an exuberant vibe, making it a great time to have a party. This also opens the door for meaningful people to step into your life. But keep in mind that it can be intense, too.
There's a reason why more patrolmen are sent out on full Moons! Take time to honor yourself in some way for any steps you took since the new Moon.
Sometimes Full Moons feel like the end of an Act in your ongoing life story.
If you set intentions, the full Moon is a time when you begin to make out the path and can take an exhilarating step forward. It is both a culmination and a time to act on something you've imagined. In the act of doing, you have brought an idea into reality and made magic.
In Wicca, the Full Moon is best used for banishing unwanted influences in your life. Think of it as ‘Shining a light' on issues or challenges. It can also be a good time for creating protection magic and performing divination. You can use this time for releasing old patterns or issues and open the door for healing by giving energy to positive patterns you'll put in place. Full Moon magic can be conjured during the 3 days prior to the rise of the Full Moon, the night of the Full Moon and during the 3 days after.
The FULL MOON is a great time to ‘moon bathe’ – simply sit under the light of the moon & meditate – and is you breathe-in allow the moon to warm your Heart & expand the beauty of the present moment, and as you breathe-out let the light of the moon transmute that which you wish to release. Full Moon ceremonies, either lighting a candle for yourself or coming together with others in sacred circle, is a powerful way to bring healing to the self/group and simply BE this Wave of LOVE for all Humanity & planet Earth. I LOVE placing my crystals out under the Full Moon to cleanse their crystalline structures and infuse them with solar vibrations.
Under a full moon in Leo, we are asked to look at our own powers and feel strongly and take control of areas in our life rather than leaving them to fate or chance.
The Blood Moon
There are many different correspondence tables for Moon Names. But most do agree on the alias "Blood Moon" during the three months of fall when hunting and harvesting take place.
Blood moons are thought to be part of prophecies, originally serving as an omen in the Book of Joel, where it is written "the sun will turn into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and terrible day of the Lord comes."
Astrologists believe full moons are when lunar energy is at its most powerful, being able to affect tides through the pull of the moon’s gravity.
Observances During The Blood Moon:
During the autumn months, The Blood Moon represents abundance, hunting, gathering and preparing for the cold winter months. It's a time to honor the Harvest and Hunting Gods/Goddesses. Many festivals take place during this time to give thanks and appreciation for the bounty and stockpiles of plenty gathered by a clan or tribe. The Feast of the Hunter's Moon is a long standing practice in Indiana where a living Native American history re-enactment takes place. But similar events can be found around the world and with varying names. A Blood Moon Eclipse:
Occasionally, we can find a rare Blood Moon lunar eclipse. This can occur anytime of the year. The Earth casts a long shadow that extends out into space. When the moon passes behind the Earth, opposite of the Sun, (in other words Earth is in the middle), we cast a long shadow that hides the moon. That's what a lunar eclipse is. Observances During The Blood Moon Eclipse:
Since an eclipse is an extra special event, it has a special energy and observance. Especially when it's a rare Blood Moon eclipse. These special occasions are used for honoring and celebrating life, or the blood flow of life. This energy of the moon can be used to energize fertility, abundance, or communicate with spirit.
